Allen the E-Bayer

So, April 1, 2005 I became an official E-Bayer!!!;-)

Great deals, easy shopping, the stuff arrives in the mail… all ya gotta do is slog to your mailbox & there it all is… like X-mas, every day. Is it just me? Is it not the best thing to open a box & discover its contents, carefully wrapped in layers & layers of tissue & cardboard, lovingly sealed… or disgustingly bare, shoved coarsely in a too small box… jumped upon by gorillas in the US mail & cracked & chipped… this gorgeous antique survived from 1898 in perfect condition & now arrives with beveled glass mirror joggled from its mounting & bashing around with every rotation of the box, chipped & scratched… Mostly it all arrives just fine… Japanese antique silk kimono from the ‘30’s… for $30 US… with Customs declaration that says: “Used Clothing”… so true & precise & yet…

If I’m ever feeling blue, all I gotta really do, is read my feedback right out loud, silly, yes, but makes me so Proud!!!!

Current Writing Projects

I’m currently working on a Screenplay or two. One is called: “Crime Show” & is about Las Vegas & some of the goofy characters the gambling industry has brought about.

The film opens with a TV show within the movie: “Crime Show” re-enacting major crimes occuring in Las Vegas… we see a couple thugs hanging an unfortunate fellow off a bridge & dropping him to his death callously. Cutting to a bar in the Flamingo Casino we see two thugs watching the show on TV. As the credits roll the pair back out of the bar & into an alley where they draw knives & then guns on each other arguing about who ratted out whom about their latest crime… that they’ve just seen depicted on TV on their favorite show.

Ext            alley outside bar in Flamingo                  night.

Johnny and Earl have stumbled out into the dimly lit alley. Continuing to hold each other in intense stares, they suddenly pull knives on each other menacingly. They circle and hold their knives on each other, swinging and jabbing. Suddenly both get the idea at once and drop the knives at their feet and reach for 9mm semi auto pistols in shoulder holsters and jab them in each others face, circling.

Johnny

I knew I couldn’t trust you, you big mouth.

Earl

I didn’t blab anything. You did it, you could never keep a secret.

Johnny

You really did it this time, yer gonna get us killed for sure!

Earl

I didn’t tell anybody, it was you, dammit!

Johnny

It was not, I never told no one.

Earl

You did too, admit it you bastard!

Johnny

Did not.

Earl

Did too.

They continue circling each other slowly, threateningly, jabbing guns in each others faces blaming each other for ratting the other out on a killing they’ve just committed.

Johnny

Watch it man, you could take an eye out with that thing.

(indicates gun)

Earl

Oh, grow up. I didn’t even come close to your eye.

Johnny

How could they have gotten it so accurate if you never told?

Earl

I never told and that leaves only you.

Johnny

Somebody musta seen us.

Earl

Nobody followed us, I was careful ‘bout that.

Johnny

And you never told no body?

Earl

No, I never told.

Johnny

Neither did I, and that means only one thing.

Earl

What?

(expectantly)

Johnny

We got’a rat in our midst.

Earl

What mist you talkin’ bout Johnny?

Johnny

A rat, we got a rat among us.

(Earl looks around by their feet)

Johnny

No, idiot. A rat, someone’s ratted on us. It wasn’t me, an you say it wasn’t you. It hadda be a rat.

Earl

Who knew bout it?

Johnny

Only the Boss, you, an me.

Earl

That guy knew bout it!

Johnny

What guy?

Earl

That guy we strung up.

Johnny

He didn’t know anything about it… till it happened that is.

Earl

Mighta’ been someone at his house when we picked him up.

They relax the guns a bit but still point them for emphasis.

Johnny

We looked around, there wasn’t anybody there.

Earl

What about the dog?

Johnny

The poodle didn’t talk, that much I’ll guarantee.

Earl

I don’t mean the dog talked, I mean somebody might have been taking care of the dog, somebody might have been there to walk him or something.

Johnny

Did you see anybody there?

Earl

Well, no, but still…

Johnny

Nobody was there, nobody saw us there.

Earl

Somebody found out.

Johnny

(Putting his gun back in it’s shoulder holster.)

We gotta have a talk with the guys that do the show.

Earl

(Replaces his gun too.)

“Crime Show”?

Johnny

Yeah, “Crime Show”. What do ya think we’re talking about here?

Earl

‘You oughta know by now, crime doesn’t pay.’

They return to the bar via the side-door they came out. A rat crosses the alley ominously.
